Control system for paint and varnish mixer carts using a PLC controller

PLC controller program for the paint and varnish mixer cart control system

The aim of the project was to design controls for carts with paint and various types of thinners. The carts were a system of mobile paint and varnish mixers. The trolley has a drive that allows it to enter and exit the heating or cooling chamber, and a drive that allows it to rotate the trolley around its own axis vertically. Time and speed are important parameters in the heating and cooling process. These parameters must be changed depending on the material the trolley contains.

System elements:

  • PLC Array SR-12MRDC controller;
  • text panel with SR-HMI-B buttons;
  • LG/LS inverters;
  • Eaton electrical equipment;
  • Rittal control cabinets.

By installing a panel with buttons on the control cabinet desktop, the operator has easy access to editing operating parameters. If an emergency situation occurs, an appropriate message is displayed on the LCD panel. The rotational speed of the motors is regulated using potentiometers, while the motors are controlled using the digital inputs of the inverter.

The scope of work included:

  • designing the electrical diagram of the system;
  • writing a program for a PLC controller;
  • development of a visualization program;
  • inverter configuration;
  • selection of electrical equipment;
  • installation of control cabinets.
