Ilizarov camera driver
The appearance of the Ilizarov camera driver
The mechatronic limb correction and extension system developed at the Krakow University of Technology in 2006 (Department of Mechatronics) consists of the following units: an executive system consisting of linear actuators and a microprocessor controller with a power supply.
Executive system of the limb correction and lengthening system
The system has been designed and programmed in such a way that it is possible to extend the limb multiple times a day. It is worth remembering that in the traditional Ilizarov apparatus, extension takes place in 6-hour cycles, i.e. 4 times in 24 hours.
The new system radically increases the number of cycles. It is possible to program the number of cycles up to 48 per day. This feature of the system allows, regardless of the patient’s will (who often neglects to systematically change the device settings), to regularly, repeatedly lengthen the limb during the day. Thanks to this, the possibility of pain is radically reduced (easier adaptation of the body to small and frequent extensions), and therefore the comfort of treatment increases significantly.
