Appearance of the SU 1.5 driver

The SU 1.5 controller was used to control the operation of the material feeder and cutter. The software for the SU 1.5 driver was written in ARDUINO. The material feeder and the guillotine are driven by three stepper motors and an actuator.

Description of the functions of individual stepper motors:

  • feeder drive;
  • knife drive;
  • guillotine drive;
  • actuator.

Stepper motors used

The stepper motors used have a holding torque of 8.7 Nm. The actuator is used to lift the table in order to position the cutting knife.

Additionally, the SU 1.5 controller works with three inductive sensors.

Description of the functions of individual sensors:

  • table position sensor;
  • knife homing sensor;
  • guillotine position sensor.

Additionally, through the controller’s analog input, the position of the potentiometer is read, controlling the tension of the fed material, enabling cooperation with the production line.

Moreover, the entire operation of the material feeder is handled by the HMI panel, which communicates with the SU 1.5 controller via the RS232 interface using the MODBUS RTU protocol.

  • width of the material being cut;
  • length of the material being cut;
  • operating speed of the feeder and guillotine;
  • autonomous work;
  • automatic work in the production line.
